RAM TEC is a consulting practice specializing in developing, implementing and assessing learning environments and strategies for individuals, schools and organizations. For more than a decade we have worked with families, lifelong learners, non-profit organizations, school administrations, faculty & staff, and corporations in determining the steps necessary to reach an educational objective, create a shared vision and plan, implement the plan and assess the plan upon its completion.

Ronald Reagan Presidential Library & Museum

Screen Shot 2015-08-10 at 2.54.53 PMThe Walter & Leonore Annenberg Presidential Learning Center is a non-partisan educational outreach of the Reagan Presidential Foundation.  As part of their civic mission to engage people in the democratic process, RAM TEC worked with the organization in developing a summer leadership institute for students in the Greater Los Angeles area.  The institute was designed by RAM TEC and the Presidential Learning Center to be face-to-face with technological augmentation based around furthering the work of the camp through implementing civic projects in local communities.  For more information, please visit the Summer Leadership website.

Museum of Modern Art

A pioneer in non-formal learning pedagogy, the Museum of Modern Art (MoMA) was the first museum to offer a Massive Open Online Course (MOOC).  Since 2013 and 2014, MoMA has had tens of thousands of students enroll in iterations of their two MOOCs:  Art & Inquiry and Art & Activity.  RAM TEC was approached in the Spring of 2014 after the first iteration of Art & Inquiry, where 17,000 students participated and engaged in multimodal learning, some of which was easy for the Coursera platform to document and some of which was more complex.  RAM TEC was tasked with coding the more qualitative data from students, in an effort to provide a fuller picture of learner experiences in the program.

Next Thought

nextthoughtBy focusing on how learners can make connections with the elements of a formal education space (instructors, fellow students, materials, networks of information), Next Thought has developed a learning platform designed to amplify connectivity.  In the Spring of 2014 Next Thought approached RAM TEC about its platform and the relationship between the software and its connection to historic and contemporary learning theory on distance education, as well as unique Next Thought projects requiring a more nuanced approach to theory and practicality

Thesys International

What started as the eLearning department at Fairmont Private School in Anaheim, California has grown into a global collaborative promoting the benefits of connectivity and community for K-12 learners.  RAM TEC began work with Thesys International in 2010 at the start of a pilot program to branch out beyond Fairmont and into a greater California space.  The focus was initially embodied in instructional design, but through conversations between RAM TEC and Thesys International the importance of seeing the confluence of technology, pedagogy and content led RAM TEC to take a more active role in developing content and engaging pedagogy and technology seamlessly.  Examples of the sort of work RAM TEC provided for Thesys are available at their website.

Individuals & Families

Since 2006, RAM TEC has worked with individuals (from elementary school age to retirees), families and small groups to aid in the creation and realization of goals and objectives regarding digitally-enhanced learning.  Examples include:

  • Coaching a high-functioning, low-IQ student through a certification program as a preschool teacher’s aide
  • Working with students with various specific (dyslexia, dysgraphia) and non-specific (ADHD, EFDD) learning disabilities through formal education structures (middle school, high school, standardized tests, college)
  • Designing and creating video contents for purpose-specific organizational initiatives
  • Developing a framework for providing real-time feedback for students around the globe in a synchronous blended class
  • Aiding individuals in developing a social media presence
  • Working with LD or injured individuals in creating opportunities and developing competencies for written and verbal expression (keyboarding, speech-to-text)
